We provide refugees and asylum seekers in Northern Greece with the opportunity to develop urgent skills needed for life in Europe.
Our approach consists of a community engagement model that treats refugees as the people they are, and is based on high expectations, equal opportunities and mutual trust.
The model is the core of our educational programming in three key areas:
Through courses delivered by qualified teachers and tailored to the needs of refugee adults and children.
Through our community-engagement activities that give refugees and locals the chance to meet.
Through our unique “Scouts” programme that takes children out of the refugee camp to explore their new community.
Second Tree is a grassroots, volunteer-run humanitarian organisation that works in refugee camps in Northern Greece. Our work is underpinned by a core ethos: to treat refugees as the people they are and overcome stereotypes of victimization and romanticization.
